Billingbear Park Golf Frequently Asked Questions

Can anyone play golf at Billingbear, or do you have to be a member?

As a pay and play golf course, you do not have to be a member to play – all golfers are welcome. We do offer a handicap membership for golfers wishing to obtain/ maintain a handicap and play in our competitions.

Do I have to book or can I just turn up?

We recommend that you book to avoid disappointment. You can check available tee times at the clubhouse, online or call 01344 869259 to enquire with the clubhouse team.

Can I bring someone with me to just walk around if they don’t want to play?

We charge a green fee for walkers/ caddies. This is for insurance purposes and because of how many ‘walkers’ end up playing on their way round.

Due to Health and Safety risks, pets and babies in push chairs aren’t allowed.

What time do you open and close?

We operate a dawn to dusk policy so the times will vary throughout the year.
Generally the clubhouse will be open every day from 7:30am throughout the week.
Weekends we open a little earlier at 6:30am Saturday and 6am on Sundays for all those early bird golfers.
We will generally still be here at the 19th hole when you finish your round incase you want a drink.

How much are the green fees?

This varies depending on age and when you are playing. Please see this page for our current green fees.

Is there a dress code?

On the golf course, the preferred dress code is a collared shirt such as a polo shirt, trousers or shorts. Trainers can be worn if you do not have golf shoes. No high heeled shoes or football boots are permitted on the course. In the clubhouse we do not enforce a dress code for those visiting for food and drink.
As long as you are dressed smart casual then that’s great.
However, vests are not permitted on the course or in the clubhouse.

Can I hire a buggy?

We do have golf buggies available for hire. To hire a buggy we do request that you book in advance. You must be over 17 and hold a drivers licence to hire a buggy. You can only have one buggy between a maximum of two golfers. We will require you to complete a form with all of your contact information and we hold onto a deposit such as a credit card/ car keys, which we give back to you once you return the buggy and we check it over for any damage. If there is any damage to the course or buggy, you will be charged for repairs. Management does reserve the right to refuse buggy hire to customers. During wet weather buggies may not be allowed on the course so always call ahead to check and to avoid disappointment.

Do I need to have my own golf clubs?

Here at Billingbear we operate the policy of no shared clubs among golfers.
Each person playing must have their own set of clubs or bag each.
We have golf clubs and bags for hire so if you do not have your own equipment that is not a problem. We will ask for a deposit and contact information for anyone hiring equipment.

What is the maximum number of golfers per tee slot?

The maximum number of golfers that can play together is 4. Crowds of more than 4 golfers will have to use more than the 1 tee time. If groups are found to be playing in groups of more than 4, they will be asked to split into separate groups.

Failure to comply will result in being asked to leave the course without a refund.
